Boden Expanding? Good news for the Natural Style Personality

I was quite excited to see the headline online that Boden are planning to expand by opening some shops across the UK. I only hope that they're not just going to be based in London which is the case with some other clothing shops that I really love.

Whilst I do shop online, it isn't the same as seeing clothes in the shop. Things that have little photographic appeal can make you want to buy immediately when you feel the fabric they are made of, and there's far more instant gratification from a shopping trip than a parcel delivery.

I imagine the biggest hope I have of Boden expanding to the County Durham area is that they might go for concessions in large department stores. I could imagine them in John Lewis or House of Fraser.

The article I was reading also suggested that Boden was really mumsy and not cutting edge fashion. Well frankly does that matter when you see some of the things that are considered to be cutting edge fashion?

I think some of the clothes that Boden make are quite quirky and funky and they definitely work for the Natural style personality who wants to introduce some extra creativity and drama into their wardrobe whilst still retaining comfort and practicality. However Boden do have a real mishmash of styles and patterns which, if you were to put them all together at any one time, could be a bit overwhelming and maybe that's where the mumsy label originated?

When you shop in any store, you should be choosing clothes wisely to work with the rest of your wardrobe. You need to consider the four Key Principles of whether they work with your colouring, body shape and proportions, style personality, and lifestyle before you make your purchase. As an image consultant, I'd suggest that you never buy something just because it's a particular label, just because it's in fashion, or just because it is cheap, or a "bargain" because then you end up with a wardrobe full of clothes whilst still feeling like you have nothing to wear!

If you've not downloaded it already....

I've written more about the Key Principles in my free guide: 7 Steps to a Stress-Free Wardrobe.
