Often, when I’m at networking events talking to men about what I do, I will be told “I’ve got a pink shirt” as though this is the very definition of of a well dressed man. Sometimes they may even be wearing said pink shirt, and sometimes it may be the right shade of pink. However there are as many times when I have to adopt a completely neutral face because it’s not the right shade of pink.
Unless I’m demonstrating the effect of colour, I don’t generally adopt a strategy of telling people that the colour they are wearing is doing nothing for them (unless, of course, they’re wearing black where words rise unbidden from my mouth if I meet that person more than a couple of times) because I don’t want to become known as a person who goes around denting confidence.
However, the issue of men being resistant to wearing pink was highlighted to me again this week, and I subsequently found this article on the internet: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8401742.stm
It’s interesting to read about the cultural shift towards acceptability in men, whilst there is still some avoidance about dressing boys in pink because of the peer pressure they will feel.
What are your feelings on men wearing pink?

I help clients become happier and more confident by giving them a Makeover from the Inside Out to change their internal and external view of themselves.
I'm not really interested in fashion, just what clothes can do for your self-image - that's where the Forget Fashion blog title originated, so I won't be doing much commentary on the latest catwalk styles.Instead, I write about things I come across in life that make me reflect.Sometimes it's serious.Sometimes it's just fun.Hopefully you'll like my writing style, find what I write about interesting and enjoy the experience. If you do, share the love using the boxes below - thank you 😀
