This Old Thing?

How often have you trotted out the phrase "This Old Thing?" when somebody comments on the outfit you're wearing?  Most women have at some point, and there are a number of reasons for this:

  1. They've been on a shopping spree and don't want the extent of it to be found out by their partner
  2. They have a huge bulging wardrobe with lots of clothes to wear but they've gone out to buy something new (that's probably a duplicate of something they already own!)
  3. There's false modesty going on - this is usually between competitive women who have gone to more trouble than they want to admit
  4. They can't accept a compliment - so it is easier to deflect it away rather than accept the compliment with grace
  5. They have had it for ages

  2. Style Personality
  3. Lifestyle
  4. Bodyshape, scale, and proportions

I find I go through phases with my outfits where I love an item for a few weeks then I put it away and rediscover it a while later (that might be weeks, months, or years later).  That's exactly what happened with this top, and it has the bonus that I don't have to iron it which is going down well with me at the moment 😀

So, when I say "This Old Thing?", that might make people think that I'm being modest, but really I'm just delving into the back of my wardrobe and it really is "This Old Thing?".

I'd love to know what the oldest item in you wardrobe is that you wear regularly, or if you're very guilty of saying "This Old Thing?" and the reason that you feel you have to give an excuse.  Leave a comment in the boxes below :-D

If you would like to know the Key Principles that apply to you....
