Who are you comparing yourself to?

Time and again, I see clients who have nothing but negative words to say about themselves.  They are comparing themselves to younger, thinner, more beautiful, more intelligent others and they miss all of the positives about themselves.

And then I saw this post which about sums up what we should do to learn self-love and appreciation of ourselves.  Now, I may feel that I (mostly) love myself, but if Nicole Kidman walked into a yoga class I was attending, I would probably have a few wobbles about my self-esteem.  But, do you know what?  Nicole probably has some negative self-talk going on too.

If you can learn to acknowledge and love yourself as you are, things get easier.  So much of your mental energy is tied up on things that you think you can’t do, that you have no appreciation of the things you could do if you believed you could, if you took the time to acknowledge what is great about you.  It only takes small steps to start to see changes ripple throughout your life.

I love when I start to see that change come about through working with my clients; I feel really blessed that I’ve been given the opportunity to be a catalyst for change in their lives.
